White Carnation Cocktail Recipe

White Carnation Cocktail Recipe

An old-fashioned orange cream soda is the inspiration for the white carnation cocktail. White carnation is a simple and tasty drink that tastes like a cream soda with orange flavor. As all of the ingredients are readily available in your average bar —including peach schnapps and vodka —this drink is extremely simple to prepare. Although it has lost some of its popularity in recent years, it remains a fun cocktail well worth a revisit. It’s interesting to note that this once rather popular mixed drink had an interesting side note. The white carnation served as the official drink of the Belmont Stakes from its beginnings in 1889 until it was replaced in 1998 by Dale DeGroff’s variation of the Belmont breeze. These two drinks deserved a place in the Triple Crown series for the last leg of the race.
